Volunteering opportunity at Burntwood Beans
Burntwood Beans is a new project from Cherry Orchard Garden Services that is being developed following the Our Place project in Burntwood which was started in 2014.
The idea is to take the kitchenette in Burntwood Library and use the space to serve great fresh coffee and locally made cake, all run by volunteers.
This is all done with the support of the library to use the space when groups are in as well as on Saturday morning to add a bit of extra community life to one of Burntwood’s most distinctive buildings.
“COGS are looking for volunteer Baristas to help out for a few hours a week on a rota basis with times to suit. Full Barista training will be given (this is an invaluable skill for anyone looking to get into work within the catering or hospitality sector) and we are working to make this a fun and lively community happening. If the Kiosk is successful we intend to turn it into its own social enterprise and to give it to the volunteers to run; this is not meant to be the start of a business empire and it is meant to complement current cafes in the town with something a bit different. However, the Kiosk will charge a reasonable price and any surplus will be for the volunteer-share-holders to distribute as they see fit.”
